Postcard: Capt. Archie Spurling in his Friendship Sloop { 1928 :: Sent from Earl Spurling to Miss A. M. Young }

This is a postcard sent from Earl Spurling to Miss A. M. Young. The photograph is of Capt. Archie Spurling in his Friendship Sloop.There are three photos for this item: The first two are direct scans of front and back, and the third is a variant of the photo with a sepia inversion filter applied. The processing on that variant is artistic -- it is not a physically accurate color reproduction.  On the postcard, Earl writes:Had a fine trip. Made [Bangor?] in 8 hrs. Cold here today. Sincerely, [Signature: E]Capt. Archie Spurling was father to Earl and Gertrude. Gertrude married Percy Bunker and had a son named Winslow. Earl never married, and lived summers in Archie's home. Special thanks to Serena Spurling for confirming the photo is of Archie, identifying the signature of the sender, and providing additional information. Archie was the brother of Serena Spurling's great grandfather, Everett Lamont Spurling.
