You ask me what iam seeing as i watch the embers glow and list to the wild wind Howling as it drives the winters snow.2. Far away to the Eastward i see the line of a storm beaten coast and list to the Hurrying tred of the wavelike a male tramp host. And up and down in the darkness and over the frozen sands i see the men of the Coast Guard pacing along their strands.3. Beaten by the storms and tempest and drenched with the pelting rain from the shores Of Carolina to the wind swept bays of Maine. 4. No matter what storm is raging no matter how wild the nightthe gleam of the Surfmans lantern shines out with a friendly light. And many a ship wrecked sailor thanks God with a gasping breath for the sturdy Arms of a surfman who drew him away from death.5. I see a ship fast sinking in the surf of a rockey shore and lifeboat leaping Onward from the stroke of the bending oar.I hear the shouts of the sailors the boom of the frozen sails the crash of the Icy halyards straning against the gale. 6. Courage the Captain trumpets they are sending help from land.God bless the men Of the Coast Guard and hold their lives in his hand.
