The card is for the start of the calendar year of 1943, and lists February 27th as the first upcoming date. Thus, it was sent out after Japanese defeat in the Battle of Midway (WWII), but before victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, where Nazi Germany's attack on the Soviet Union would fail, mitigating American fears of a potential allied defeat.War insurance was designed to address fears of U.S. insurgency cover damages in case of enemy invasion, riots, and insurgency. This card demonstrates that fears of such damage were significant enough in Maine that the Auburn based insurance company saw it as a worthy offer.
